A. Our Same-Day Classes usually have 6-24 participants. Some couples schedule the class for themselves, others invite their friends to join them. Classes with more than 6 participants are welcomed and the fee for the additional participant is 60.00.
A. You can obtain both certifications the same day. Please tab to Course Cost page on the left side.
Q. Do I have to get a CCW permit?
A. No, many people come for the knowledge, skills and attitude gained through the hands-on experience. The training is very valuable if you are thinking of purchasing a handgun but don’t know where to start. It will define your needs and requirements through the actual handling experience of several handguns.
Q. How quickly can I schedule a class?
A. You can schedule one for your location as long as the date is open, no deposit is required.
Q. What are the hours?
A. Classes start at 7:00 AM and Ohio State requirement is 12 hours of instruction. Utah Certification is about 4 hours long so schedule varies to your needs.
Q. Who is the main audience of these classes?
A. The class is open to everyone, but they are often organized by all-women groups, couples, church and university students. The class is geared to people not having time to attend multiple classes to obtain their permit to carry, but can commit to a single day class. It doesn't get any easier than when it's delivered to your door and in the privacy of your own comfort, on your schedule, your terms, and your friends. Previous experience is not required and you don't need to own a firearm.
Q. How do I begin the process?
A. Send us an email or call us. After you reserve a date, we will advise you of any logistical items that you need to be aware of. We make it easy for you and take care of all details. You provide a location and the group, we do the rest. Participants will have to drive to a nearby shooting range, so participants must provide own transport to the range and back to the location where the class is held.
Q. Do I receive a confirmation for the course enrollment?
A. For home classes, yes, 14 days out we will reconfirm your date and at that time we complete your class request. At that time we require the address where the class will be held, telephone numbers of the organizer, and day of class phone number as well.
Q. Are there any other fees for the course?
A. Other than the fees of the shooting range for Ohio course and a small transportation fee, no.
Q. Can I have a quick sample of a class schedule?
A. For Ohio, we begin around 0700, and the first part of the class is an introductory lecture and hands on participation. Once the safety and handling lessons are done we break into a working lunch, then go to the range.
Each participant is required to shoot rounds on a revolver to become comfortable with it, and before moving to a semi automatic pistol. We return to the class site to learn about the law and wrap up with all the legal guidelines and responsibilities.
At the end of the course a certificate of completion will be issued, which you take to your County’s Sheriff for the CCW permit application. For Utah, a certified (sealed) application will be provided to you.
Q. Do we bring our own gun or do you have rentals available?
A. We provide them for you. We do not use rentals as we can not attest to how they have been maintained. For safety reasons, we do not use reloaded ammo. Only freshly opened boxes of ammo will be available for each student. There is a reason handgun manufacturers void their warranties when reloads are used and we follow the same safety guidelines they call upon.
Q. How do I transport my gun to the class?
A. If you briong yours, it must be in a case and unloaded. No ammo is allowed in the class.
Q. What's the catch?
A. There is no catch. We provide a comprehensive course and do it at the lowest price possible because we do it at your location and you put the group together on your own. We sidestep the overhead of renting a location for the class and the advertising costs involved in getting a group together.
We make sure you obtain what you need and leave the training more knowledgeable in the safe handling of your handguns, your responsibilities, the law, and have an ability to discern how to use them. We want you to develop a relaxed awareness of your surroundings at all times, and the ability to escalate to a higher level of awareness when needed. Our goal is for you to develop an unconscious competency in your weapon’s handling, and for it to be reflexive not reactive. The other side of the course is that it opens the door to an exciting sport that is fun and interesting. It’s as challenging and competitive as golf, but you can do it year round.
Q. What else do I need?
A. All participants must be over 21 years old, under 21 must be accompanied by a parent. There is nothing else you need. You put the group together and we do the rest. You will be responsible for the fee collection from every participant. Each participant will pay their own entry to the chosen practice range.
